FUTURES

The FUTURES Program: Empowering Youth for a Brighter Future

The FUTURES Program is designed to support the growth and development of young people involved with Halton Children’s Aid Society. There are Junior and Senior levels to meet the different needs of each age group.

Program Objectives

The FUTURES Program focuses on five key areas:

  • Social and Interpersonal Development: Encourages social interactions, overcomes social anxiety, and builds confidence through meaningful relationships with staff, volunteers, and peers.
  • Essential Life and Employment Skills: Develops critical skills for independence, including financial literacy, reading and writing, problem-solving, self-care, culinary arts, resume building, and job interview skills.
  • Leadership Development: Offers opportunities to develop leadership skills through public speaking engagements and facilitating program workshops.
  • Mentorship: Provides access to fellow youth mentors with child welfare experience who facilitate discussions, workshops, and share their own experiences.
  • Self-Directed Passion for Learning: Fosters a love for learning, encouraging participants to explore their own interests and passions outside the classroom.
