About Us

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton (CAFH) is a charity dedicated to helping children, youth, and families who are receiving services from the Halton Children’s Aid Society (Halton CAS). CAFH works to provide support, resources, and advocacy for those who have experienced abuse, neglect, loss, unstable housing or other difficult circumstances. Committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most, CAFH offers opportunities for healing, growth, education and to create happy childhood memories.

CAFH works in close partnership with the Halton CAS to support children, youth and families in need. The Halton CAS is a government-funded agency that is responsible for investigating and responding to concerns of child abuse and neglect in the Halton region.

The programs supported by CAFH have been developed over many years and enhance the work of Halton CAS by having a direct impact on the lives of those in need. However, these programs are not funded, or are insufficiently funded, by the government; therefore donations from the community are requested to sustain the vital, additional resources provided.

About the Halton Children's Aid Society

The Halton Children’s Aid Society (Halton CAS) is your local community resource for children and youth and one of 49 Children’s Aid Societies and Indigenous Child and Family Well-Being Agencies in Ontario. In every community throughout Halton Region, colleagues share strategies and success stories, developing the best ways to serve those who need assistance. Halton CAS is mandated by provincial legislation to provide short- and long-term protection to children and youth from various forms of abuse and neglect, with the goal of permanent care, either living in their own homes or in alternative placements such as adoption or kin. Key Statistics: 97% of children and youth served remain with family. We help over 5,000 at-risk children and youth in Halton annually.

Executive Director's Message

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for visiting CAFH’s website, please let us know how you like it! It was time for a change and we are grateful to our friends at Yellow Robot for assisting us in revitalizing the look and feel of our brand.

While I have your attention, I would also like to thank you for the amazing support we received over this past fiscal year.

We know that a large percentage of youth in Halton are suffering from anxiety and mental health issues; being unhoused is a real problem, addiction issues are significant, human trafficking is very real.

The children and youth that we serve are among these groups and the statistics are not kind when we hear about the number of youth leaving care Ontario wide; many are not graduating school, are becoming part of the correctional system and returning as parents to the child welfare system.

Yet in Halton we are changing those statistics. We help those who can’t afford to access opportunities and we are supporting young people who all too often, have come from dire circumstances beyond their control and simply need the same chances other young people are given.

The programs supported and opportunities offered to these children and youth run deeper than just receiving a new bike (though how magical is that), or heading off to college. It’s about finding what you are good at, hearing someone say “well done, great work!” and learning that life can be different if you know how and where to ask for help.

Always with the goal of remaining fully accountable and transparent, we will continue to evaluate all we do, search for ways to improve, and rely on research, experience and new learnings to ensure that the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton continues to meet the highest expectations of its stakeholders and transform the lives of its greatest assets, our children and youth.

Thank you for believing in the work that we do.
