Understanding the Process

Understanding Our Volunteer Application Process: Why It's Lengthy, But Necessary

At the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton and the Halton Children’s Aid Society, we appreciate your interest in volunteering with us. We recognize that our application process may seem lengthy, but we want to assure you that it’s a necessary step in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, youth, and families we serve.

Vulnerable Sector: Enhanced Safety Measure

As an organization that works with vulnerable children, youth, and families, we have a responsibility to take extra precautions to ensure their safety and protection. This means that we must conduct thorough background checks and screening procedures to ensure that all volunteers are suitable to work with our clients.

It’s Not About You, It’s About Our Commitment to the Community

We want to emphasize that our lengthy application process is not a reflection on you as an individual. It’s not about doubting your intentions or questioning your character. Rather, it’s about our commitment to the community we serve. We have a duty to protect the children, youth, and families who trust us, and we take that responsibility very seriously.

Safety Check: A Necessary Step

Our safety checks are designed to identify any potential risks or concerns that may impact our clients. These checks include:

  • CPIN record search
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Driver’s Abstract (if applicable)
  • Reference Checks

These checks help us to verify the information provided by our volunteers and ensure that they are suitable to work for and with our clients.

We Appreciate Your Patience and Understanding

We understand that our application process may seem lengthy, but we appreciate your patience and understanding. We’re committed to making sure that our volunteers are not only passionate about helping others but also trustworthy and reliable.
